Neighboring districts are (from the west clockwise) Om Koi, Hot of Chiang Mai Province, Li of Lamphun Province and Sam Ngao of Tak Province.

The south end of the Khun Tan Range reaches the east side of this district.

Heading south on road 108 for about 90 kms. toward Hot, taking in several villages and towns on this major road. At Chom Thong, approximately an hours ride, there are side roads to visit waterfalls, Doi Inthanon, various temples.

Taking the 1103 road east from Hot, you can ride an amazing road towards the town of Doi Tao and if you venture here during the rainy season, you will experience the flooded Ping River & perhaps enjoy eating fresh fish on one of the many floating restaurants. This area is renown for smoked fish & you can see the fishermen landing their catches or visit the market area overlooking the lake where families prepare the produce daily.

This single day loop can be done using many roads other than the route in the map, using larger or smaller roads and of course, taking small tracks into the mountains to enjoy some off road adventure as well.All the roads shown in the route are tarmac, many of the roads are fast & open with little traffic, some are smaller village lanes.
